Subterranean termites live in colonies in the ground and build vertical tunnels that look like mud tubes above ground level so that they can search for food. Because subterranean termites will die if exposed to air for an extended period of time, the tunnels provide protection from the open air and direct sunlight, allowing workers to safely carry food to the nest. Subterranean termites can form tunnels through cracks in concrete, so slab homes are not exempt from these termites.

TERMITE TREATMENTS- There are TWO OPTIONS to consider when deciding on when it comes to protecting your home from termites.

Trademark Pest Solutions uses two treatment technologies for termites - Termidor® and the Advance Termite Bait System. Each one approaches termite elimination differently.

TERMIDOR

The Termidor treatment system begins with trenching around your home's foundation.

This trench will hold the Termidor chemical compound. The chemical itself has been created from a truly revolutionary chemical treatment that is virtually undetectable by termites - meaning they cannot see, smell, taste OR AVOID the Termidor chemical. Instead, the contact and ingest the chemical and transfer it to their termite friends - thereby eliminating any termite nest.
This process is called the “Transfer Effect”. Termidor is a slow-acting chemical treatment, which gives termites plenty of time to infect and destroy their nest mates.

Previously, older termite chemical treatments were simply designed to keep termites from breaking the barrier or avoiding it completely. THE ADVANCE TERMITE CONTROL BAIT SYSTEM

A bait system is comprised of a series of 'bait stations' which are located in strategic positions around the perimeter of your home. At specified intervals, a Trademark Pest Control technician will check the traps for signs of termite activity.

When termites are found in a station, the 'Termite Inspection Cartridge' - which contains compressed wood with no active pesticide ingredient initially, is replaced with a termite bait cartridge WITH ACTIVE INGREDIENT. Termites then begin feeding.

As termites feed on the bait and return to the colony, they share the termite bait with their nest mates and send other termites back to feed on the bait. As feeding continues, more and more termites become infected which causes the colony to slowly die.

Upon the elimination of the colony, the bait will be replaced with a new termite inspection cartridge by a Trademark technician for monitoring purposes. We then resume a regular inspection schedule and respond accordingly if new termite colonies are discovered.

 
Bait Treatments are most often used when homeowners are sensitive to chemicals. Some homeowners perfer not to have the conventional type drilling of the slabs around their homes.
